Early May, 2014

I have several new images that celebrate one of the most enchanting times of year, early May. The images start off with an intriguing leaf left over from Winter, yielding its nutrients to help create new life. You’ll also see several of the images where I’m having fun with my new fisheye lens!

Spring, 2014

My show Big Sky, Bountiful Sky from late 2013 is now appearing at Foodie Café for Spring of 2014. Foodie Café is near the Fountain Street Artists’ Community in Framingham, MA, USA. Stop by for a tasty bite and see the show. I’m very pleased with how nice the images look in the Café setting.

Two of my images are in the current Witness & Artist show at the Life Force Arts Center in Chicago, January 31 – April 8, 2014. The exhibit corresponds to the Imbloc cycle on the Wheel of the Year. My two art pieces honor and bear witness to the Imbloc and to Brigid, the saint and goddess of the Imbloc. I hold a special place in my heart for Brigid—she's been a loving companion to me on this Earthly journey.

November, 2013

I feel a great affinity with the ancient Zoroastrian priests, the magi, who for countless generations observed the nighttime sky, searching with their instruments and their hearts for a sign of the Great Awakening of humanity. Finally, the sign arrived—the Star of Bethlehem.

To this day, I still have a fascination with the sky and how it can inspire and teach us. I’ve put together a selection of my favorite sky images for a show at the Morse Institute Library in Natick, MA. The show runs through the day after Christmas, 2013.

The thumbnail is from one of the newest images in the show. This picture of the Milky Way was taken from our campsite on the ocean at the eastern tip of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The lights at the horizon are from Nova Scotia, about 35 miles across the water. A wide angle lens was used to capture the vastness and the glow of our galaxy.

May, 2013

I’ve had work in six shows in late 2012 and early 2013—in Framingham, Concord, Chicago, and Naperville. Unfortunately, I've fallen a bit behind in updating my blog, but I’ll strive to keep up. Starting now, May, 2013.

I’m pleased to have three images in the May show at F.I.R.E. Art Studios and Gallery, Naperville, IL. The dates are May 11th - June 8th, 2013. F.I.R.E. stands for “Feel, Introspect, Rejuvenate, Express”, and the theme for the May show is Rejuvenate. Here are my three Rejuvenate images, and here are links to the F.I.R.E. Gallery and to the Rejuvenate show

January, 2012

Our beloved Mr. Watson (aka Watty) passed over on January 16, 2012, Martin Luther King Day. Watty was 16 1/2 years old. It’s very hard to say goodbye to such a dear friend. We’ve created a webpage to honor his life with us.

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated the blog. My focus the last few months has been on completing my book. It’s been a bit of an arduous path, but one also blessed with much support, great editors, and wonderful synchronicity.

This spring, our neighbor Fran gifted us with a beautiful bouquet of white peonies from her garden. I took some nice close-up photos of them and have just completed playing with the photos on my Mac. Software imaging tools used included Photoshop, Nik Color Efex Pro, Xaos Tools Terrazzo, and Corel KPT Collection. The result is 3 new pictures featuring the Flower of Life pattern.

I’m now devoting a significant amount of time to my new book. It’s something I’ve been working on in various ways for several years. The goal is to publish it late-2010 or early-2011. The title is…are you ready for this…“A New Vision for the Catholic Church”. If you’ve been following the news recently, you know that the church is in need of some new visions. Really, really in need! Update, January 2012: New cover, book published. Here it is.

Spring is now springing forth in all her glory here in New England. What wonderful days we are having. My creative efforts are temporarily focused on my new book rather than the art and photography. So, here’s a nice spring magnolia image from last year to enjoy.

Carol gifted me with a Lobster Newburg dinner with chocolate fondue and luscious strawberries on Valentine’s Day. And she also gave me a lovely bouquet of flowers with the suggestion that I might like to do something artsy with them. So, I photographed the white rose in the center of the arrangement and have been playing with the photo the last few weeks. I gave it a sort of glamour glow effect along with a high key effect. Here’s my beautiful Valentine Rose:

February 16, 1020

Oops, I mean February 16, 2010.

So, this post is about free energy or new energy. It seems as if our planet has been running way, way too long on fossil fuel energy. This is very old energy indeed, literally and figuratively. It’s expensive, pollutes our Earth, and has been the cause of warfare and political unrest.

Our human consciousness has surely expanded to the point where newer forms of energy can now come in. A very promising technology is cold fusion. This is similar to the reactions that take place on the sun, but it's been observed taking place on a table top at room temperature. It was first discovered about 20 years ago but then considered a fluke. It is now staging a grand resurgence and may come into being very, very soon. There is an excellent and very readable reference on cold fusion here.

So, dwelling on these thoughts, a couple of images came to mind that I did several years ago. Perhaps they will give a boost to the arrival of cold fusion or other free energy technology. Click on each to see a larger version.

I’ve printed 13 by 19 inch proofs of a number of my recent images. The proofs were reviewed carefully and 14 selected for a portfolio. I’ll be approaching some new venues this year with this portfolio, either the online version or the actual print version. Hopefully, I’ll be announcing a new exhibit soon. If you have any venue suggestions, let me know. To view the portfolio, click on either of the small thumbnails below:
